Job Summary

Assists leadership with new hire orientation, training, competency testing and general education for pharmacy technicians. Implements departmental process changes, assists pharmacists in quality control processes and daily operations. Provides frontline feedback on daily operations and process improvement initiatives specific to their specialty area of operation. Maintains and ensures completeness of records for regulatory compliance. Conducts regular quality assurance inspection audits to maintain operational compliance throughout the health system. Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, compounds and prepares medications for dispense in accordance with federal and state regulatory agency requirements. Works 60% of scheduled shifts within a specialty area or training/competency role. Specialty areas include Sterile Compounding, Oncology, Neonatal ICU (NICU), Anesthesia (ANES), Inventory Management or Controlled Substances. QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or GED Certification with one of the following and two years successful hospital or retail pharmacy technician experience:
    • Completed an ASHP accredited pharmacy technician-training program
    • Completed a pharmacy technician training program externship at Grady Health System with recommendation from Grady Health System preceptor
    • Completed a pharmacy technician cross training program at Grady Health System with recommendation from Grady Health System preceptor
    • Have one (1) year of experience at Grady Health System in a pharmacy
    • Have one (1) year of experience in a pharmacy outside of Grady Health System
  • Must be a Registered Technician with the State of Georgia by
  • Pharmacy Technician PTCB Certification preferred
  • Organization and accurate record keeping skills
  • Basic computer data entry skills required and typing approximately 30 wpm
  • Minimum of three (3) years of job-related experience, including hospital pharmacy experience and at least two (2) years of experience in a specialty service field is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of job-related experience, including experience with controlled substances and sterile compounding for oncology and NICU patient populations, as well as proficiency with Pyxis ES, Pyxis Logistics, and EPIC systems is required.
