Overview

Carle Health is seeking an accomplished physician leader to serve as Associate Medical Director of Outpatient Women's Health Services. This is a unique opportunity for a physician passionate about advancing clinical excellence, developing providers, improving patient experiences, and helping shape the strategic direction of Women's Health services across a growing and nationally recognized health system.

Reporting to the Medical Director of Women's Health Services, the Associate Medical Director will partner closely with operational leadership and physician colleagues to support growth, quality, provider engagement, and innovation across ambulatory Obstetrics and Gynecology, Gynecology, Urogynecology, Midwifery, and Reproductive Medicine services. The Associate Medical Director will be expected to maintain a 0.9 FTE clinical practice in addition to their 0.1 leadership role.

You will join a leadership team committed to innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement while helping ensure that Women's Health remains a destination program for patients and providers alike.

Key Leadership Responsibilities

  • Function as a key member of the Women's Health leadership team supporting strategic planning, growth initiatives, and operational excellence
  • Partner with the Medical Director and operational dyad leadership to oversee ambulatory Women's Health services including OB/GYN, Gynecology, Urogynecology, Midwifery, and Reproductive Medicine
  • Support quality, patient safety, patient satisfaction, and performance improvement initiatives across Women's Health clinics
  • Assist with physician recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, engagement, retention, and succession planning
  • Develop and support future physician leaders within the department
  • Participate in multidisciplinary committees, leadership forums, quality meetings, and strategic planning initiatives
  • Collaborate with providers, nursing leadership, advanced practice providers, and operational teams to optimize care delivery and patient access
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards
  • Promote evidence-based medicine, operational efficiency, and cost-effective care delivery
  • Support implementation of organizational priorities and strategic pillars within Women's Health services
  • Serve as a champion for change management, physician engagement, and continuous process improvement
  • Participate in the resolution of provider, staff, and patient concerns while fostering a culture of professionalism and accountability

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree required
  • Board Certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology or related Women's Health specialty
  • Completion of an accredited residency program
  • Eligible for Illinois medical licensure
  • Active medical license in good standing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Previous physician leadership experience preferred
  • Two or more years of practice experience within Carle Health preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, provider engagement, and clinical excellence

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $375,000 - $470,000. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
