Responsibilities

SummitRidge Hospital, a place for healing and hope providesquality behavioral health and addiction treatment services,mental health and substance abuse treatment located in Lawrenceville, Georgia, approximately 30 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta. Our inpatient, partial hospitalization and outpatient programs have helped adolescents, adults, older adults and their families.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Intake/Assessment Counselor to join our Behavioral Health team in a PRN, as-needed role with primarily weekend coverage. This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate, skilled behavioral health professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering high-quality patient care.

In this role, you will ensure all intake calls are answered promptly and courteously while providing essential support through crisis intervention, telephonic triage, and clinical assessments. You will also serve as a trusted resource for patients and families by offering community resources and information, as well as assisting with admission precertification.

The ideal candidate will have recent behavioral health experience and a strong ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners, including other departments, physicians, and emergency departments. As a collaborative team player, you will help ensure exceptional customer service for patients, families, and fellow associates.

This position also includes responsibility for on-site assessments, making adaptability, professionalism, and strong clinical judgment essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to intake calls promptly and courteously
  • Provide crisis intervention, telephonic triage, and clinical assessments
  • Offer community resources and information to callers and families
  • Obtain admission precertification
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers, including physicians, departments, and emergency departments
  • Demonstrate teamwork and a commitment to excellent customer service
  • Complete on-site and/or off-site assessments as needed

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's in psychology or social work or related field. Licensed or License eligible.
  • Five (5) years post graduate experience in a psychiatric setting preferred

Must have a minimum of five (5) years related experience in a psychiatric setting.
