Rutgers University - Newark, an urban public research anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking an Admissions Officer. Reporting to the Director of Recruitment and Outreach, the Admissions Officer, promotes the University's mission by empowering prospective students, families, and educators with the information and tools needed to understand and navigate the college admissions process at Rutgers University - Newark. The Admissions Officer will primarily work with first-year students, they will be cross trained to work with, recruit, and enroll transfer students as well. This position involves frequent evening and weekend hours. The Admissions Officer must have regular access to and use of a personal vehicle, as travel is required.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Develops and implement strategic recruitment efforts, application and selection processes for undergraduate students to achieve the general university enrollment goals, as well as goals related to specific schools, colleges, departments, and applicant types.
- Provides exceptional service to prospective students, their families, and other constituencies and public speaking is a frequently used and required skill.
- Communicates clearly and effectively with all colleagues through regular and planned communication and/or meetings so that information and updates are passed on accurately and timely to those who require it.
- Manage other duties as assigned, demonstrate their capability to learn new information, understand it, and implement it to be effective in the position.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience that demonstrates skills in higher education admission counseling. Requires good communication skills and computer literacy skills in industry standard software. Master's degree in a related field can be substituted for experience.
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required to perform the duties of this position.

- Successful application with geo-market research and enrollment planning tools as well as multiple computer software and website applications is critical.
- Excellent communication skills are essential. Admissions Officer uses the entirety of the Microsoft Office platform - WORD (for standard word processing,) PowerPoint (for presentations,) Access (for data management,) Excel (for report production,) and Publisher.
- Knowledge of the Admissions systems including, but not limited to, Salesforce, Perceptive Content, Marketing Cloud, Five9, Olark, and the Enrollment System. Demonstrated evidence of program goal achievement is critical component in qualifying for the position.

| Physical Demands and Work Environment |
- This position will involve evening and weekend hours. Since frequent travel is required, the Admissions Officer must have access and use of a personal vehicle.
- The Admissions Officer must also be able to manage other duties as assigned throughout the year demonstrating his/her capability to learn new information, understand it and use that information to be effective in the position.
- Must be able to lift and carry large quantities of recruitment materials.
