Position Summary
AB Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Credentialing Specialist Team Lead to help lead the day-to-day operations of our credentialing team. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can balance supporting the team with maintaining their own credentialing workload. The Team Lead will help drive productivity, quality and accountability while serving as the primary resource for workflow questions, training, file review and day-to-day issue resolution. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented and comfortable holding others accountable while maintaining a positive, solution-oriented approach. This person will work closely with the Credentialing Manager and leadership team to ensure expectations, priorities and process changes are clearly communicated and executed across the department.
Team Oversight & Daily Operations
- Enforce the direction and expectations established by leadership to ensure productivity and deadlines are consistently met
- Serve as the first point of contact for team questions, workflow support and day-to-day issue resolution
- Address routine performance, workflow and team concerns directly when appropriate
- Monitor individual and team workloads and escalate capacity concerns to leadership when additional support is needed
- Assist with onboarding, training and development of new Credentialing Specialists
- Help ensure team members understand department expectations, processes and performance standards
- Lead by example by maintaining an active credentialing workload while supporting the team
- Consistently bring a positive, solution-oriented attitude and help create a motivated, accountable and team-first environment
Credentialing & Compliance Responsibilities
- Guide healthcare professionals through the credentialing and onboarding process
- Maintain and update employee documentation to meet company, client and regulatory requirements
- Monitor missing, incomplete and expiring compliance documents and ensure timely follow-up
- Order drug screens, immunizations, background checks and other required screenings
- Verify state licenses, certifications and professional credentials
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, internal processes and client-specific requirements
- Process new assignments, extensions and reassignments
- Conduct pre-calls and follow up with healthcare professionals until they are fully cleared for work
- Maintain accurate credentialing records and documentation within internal systems
- Communicate credentialing status, potential delays and clearance concerns to the appropriate internal teams
Quality & Compliance Execution
- Review credentialing files for accuracy and completeness prior to final approval
- Ensure the team consistently follows compliance standards, internal processes and client requirements
- Identify errors, trends or recurring compliance issues and communicate them to department leadership
- Provide coaching and additional guidance when quality concerns are identified
- Help maintain consistency and accuracy across the credentialing team
Communication & Coordination
- Serve as the liaison between the credentialing team and department leadership
- Communicate updates, priorities and process changes from management to the team
- Maintain strong communication with recruiters, sales, operations, healthcare professionals, vendors and clients
- Partner closely with sales and operations teams to ensure smooth placements and prevent credentialing delays
- Provide timely updates when credentialing issues could impact a healthcare professional's start date
Escalation Support
- Resolve routine and mid-level credentialing, workflow and team issues independently
- Help troubleshoot credentialing challenges before escalating them to management
- Escalate complex compliance, performance or client-related concerns to the Credentialing Manager
- Provide leadership with clear information and recommended solutions when escalating an issue
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous healthcare credentialing, compliance or onboarding experience required
- Experience within healthcare staffing strongly preferred
- Previous team lead, training, mentoring or leadership experience preferred
- Strong understanding of healthcare credentialing and compliance processes
- Knowledge of Joint Commission requirements preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable providing feedback, addressing issues and holding team members accountable
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to determine what can be handled independently and what requires escalation
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
- Strong computer skills and ability to quickly learn credentialing systems and processes
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to jump in and help wherever needed
