Summary Job Description: Endoscopy-Nursing Assistant Part-Time I First Shift (18-hours) Surgical Services I Lexington, KY The Endoscopy Unit is a specialized department within the hospital that focuses on performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using advanced endoscopic technology. This unit provides minimally invasive methods to examine and treat conditions affecting the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, respiratory system, and other internal structures. Its goal is to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a safe and efficient environment. Description:
- Assists patients in personal hygiene such as bathing, dental and oral care, hair and nail care.
- Assist patients with bowel and bladder functions while maintaining dignity and recording I & O. Does
- not leave patient unattended when out of bed for bathroom assistance.
- Assists patients in dressing and undressing while providing dignity and privacy.
- Assist patients by lifting them manually or by mechanical lifts as needed as directed by the nurse.
- Assist patients with eating and drinking and nutritional needs.
- Assist in transferring and discharging patients as required.
- Assist patients in positioning for meals including cleaning hands of patient.
- Assists with serving meals and feeding patients as necessary.
- Offers supplemental feeding/snacks.
- Provides patients with fresh ice and drinking water per policy.
- Documents input on chart at least every two hours.
- Turn patients every two hours and/or as indicated as directed by the Nurse.
- Maintains proper body alignment while performing patient transfer and activities.
- Escorts patients during admission, transfer, and discharge as requested.
- Assists with ambulation, up in chair, or other activities.
- Verifies patient's limitations, restrictions, and plan for mobility with Nurse prior to initiation of patient care.
- On Call required-weeknights, weekends, and holidays picked by rotation.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma and/or Equivalent.
- Current KY Nurse Aide Certification, or successful completions of first year of Nursing program with validation of clinical rotation.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
