The Shop Welder Tech - (Line Bore), performs intermediate welding repairs and fabrication utilizing Holt, Caterpillar and AWS Welding Procedures, Standards and Codes. Demonstrating experience with precision measuring tools, layout/fit up tools, blueprints, and drawings. In addition, this position will be responsible for performing basic line boring jobs, the removal and installation of basic components associated with the job requirements.

Essential Functions
Models, promotes, and reinforces the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission. Performs most intermediate repairs/fabrication and welding on heavy equipment and components in a shop environment with minimal oversight by a qualified person. Demonstrates established skills with a cutting/track torch, air arc gouging, layout/fit up tools, band saw, chop saw, and magnetic drill press. Maintains all company equipment, tools, and work areas in good, clean working order. Ensures all welding work is compliant with specific welding codes, procedures, and quality standards. Works overtime as required by workload and customers' needs. Learns to perform basic line boring jobs. Performs removal and installation of basic heavy equipment components. Performs electronic inspection reports using portable electronic devices. Searches parts on the computer in SIS, and orders parts electronically. Accurately prepares technical inspection/service reports, documents, and any other necessary paperwork to complete the job. Pursues on-going self-development, classroom training and on-the-job training. Works safely at all times while consistently adhering to company policies, procedures and standards internally as well as externally when representing our organization. Performs other duties assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to complete most welding repairs on mild and hard steel utilizing FCAW process (all position) and perform most torch work, cutting and gouging. General knowledge of equipment and dimensional tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance. General knowledge of specification and drawing interpretations. Knowledge with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems. Good work habits, accuracy and an exceptional attention to detail and quality of work. Developing technical skills to become a qualified welder and fabricator with a demonstrated ability to effectively perform assigned welding tasks. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Developing influencing skills and problem-solving skills with a developing mechanical aptitude. Adaptable to changing schedules and exhibits time management skills. Ability to follow logical troubleshooting and standard operating procedures when performing welding fabrication and repairs. Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and as part of a team with a strong work ethic being dependable, reliable, and honest with demonstrated integrity. Ability to follow manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines to ensure quality work. Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in fabrication and welding. Required to be a self-starter. Ability to read, write, and understand information with the ability to follow directions and procedures. Able to perform basic line-boring jobs.
Additional Requirements:
Welding certification - FCAW 1" T-1 material (3G and 4G) welding processes and GTAW 3/8" mild steel. Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; with additional specialized/technical training or some college courses (Welding Technology) preferred. At least two years required, three or more preferred Preferred license: Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) 3G and 4G (T-1 metal, 1" thick) Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) 3G and 4G First Aid/CPR; Confined Space Entry; Methane/O2 Deficiency

Physical Requirements:
Ability to function, work around and with welding machines, overhead cranes, cutting torches and gauges, fit up and layout tools, forklifts and material handling equipment, hand grinder/sander and air tools. Ability to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Moves materials weighing up to 50 lb., anything more requires a team lift, or a mechanical lift. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina. Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself using hands/feet while maintaining at least three points of contact to climb up/down ladders and/or equipment. Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment. Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work. Work Environment:
Requires the use of common protective or safety equipment. Regularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts and noise level may be loud at times. May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and moisture/humidity. Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment Occasionally performs work in cramped spaces and/or high places. Frequently interact with internal/external customers and occasionally interacts with vendors and outside organizations.
