Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implementation, and evaluation of experiments related to flavor chemistry, lipid extraction and characterization under the PI's supervision.
  • Develop and optimize instrument methodologies and data analysis.
  • Disseminate findings via presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Work with colleagues in the development of joint research projects and applications for competitive research funding support.
  • Train and manage graduate and undergraduate students on experimental procedures.

Appointment: The position is a 100% time 12-month appointment. This Post-Doctoral Associate (job code # 9546) position is a renewable appointment, but renewal is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance. The grant funding for this position has funds for up to 1 year. Post-Doctoral Research Associate appointments at the University of Minnesota are limited to five years. The appointment provides access to university health and vacation benefits. Annual salary base: $62,232.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD Food Science, Food Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related field.
  • Experience with LC-MS/MS, HPLC, mass spectrometry
  • Experience with different sample preparation techniques including SPE, SPME, and SAFE among others.
  • Strong publication record commensurate with experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with motivation to publish results and present at scientific meetings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in GC-FID, GC-MS
  • General laboratory and management organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Evidence of willingness to learn new techniques.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $62,232 annually, depending on education/qualifications/experience
