Job Title: Structural Engineering Professional Intermediate
Duration: 5 Months
Location: Hybrid/Remote - USA Northeast Region (CT, IA, IL, IN, MA, ME, MI, MN, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, SD, VT, WI)
Position Summary
We are seeking a Structural Engineer to support the analysis and design of structural systems for engineering projects. This role involves collaborating with structural leads, engineers, designers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop structural concepts, perform engineering analysis, and produce high-quality design documentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in structural engineering, excellent communication skills, and the ability to take ownership of assigned work while continuing to develop professionally.

Responsibilities


  • Perform structural engineering analysis and design under general supervision.
  • Develop structural design concepts and assist in preparing engineering calculations and construction documents.
  • Apply engineering principles, procedures, and design criteria to structural projects.
  • Perform structural analysis for gravity, wind, and seismic loading in accordance with applicable building codes.
  • Develop an understanding of lateral force-resisting systems and structural behavior.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate structural designs with other disciplines.
  • Review and check engineering calculations for accuracy and quality.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail and quality control.
  • Manage assigned tasks to meet project schedules, budgets, and quality expectations.
  • Take ownership of assigned portions of the structural scope and proactively identify potential scope changes.
  • Communicate project issues, risks, and technical questions to senior engineers and project leads.
  • Participate in field walks as required, which may include climbing ladders, crawling under raised floors, and standing or walking for extended periods.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of structural engineering experience.
  • Experience working with U.S. building codes, including:

    • International Building Code (IBC)
    • ASCE 7
    • ACI
    • AISC


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis) or Structural Engineering.
  • Experience using structural engineering software such as:

    • STAAD
    • Navisworks
    • Bluebeam


  • Experience designing and analyzing steel and reinforced concrete structures.
  • Experience supporting semiconductor, industrial, or manufacturing facility projects.
