The UGA Carl Vinson Institute of Government - Who We Are As a Public Service and Outreach unit at the University of Georgia, the
UGA Institute of Government contributes directly to the university's overarching public service mission of improving people's lives by helping to create jobs and prosperity, developing leaders, and addressing critical issues. | Position Summary |
The Program Coordinator
III supports the Institute of Government's Workforce and Economic Development Division as it provides technical assistance and applied research to governments in Georgia focused on workforce development, economic development, applied demography, and economic analysis. This role independently manages and coordinates key public facing programs, initiatives, and projects, including event planning, stakeholder communication, program planning, which includes, implementation, evaluation, and continued improvement. Additionally, this role manages the editing, review, and design process for all division publications, reports, and materials. Duties assigned to this position include independently managing processes that support multiple complex projects and events simultaneously, while exercising independent judgement, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders, resolving operational issues, ensuring success achievement of program objectives. The incumbent develops and maintains collaborative relationships with internal
CVIOG partners, university personnel, government agencies, and other external partners throughout Georgia. |
| Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
1) Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience.
2) Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with internal (i.e., faculty and staff) and external (i.e., partners and clients) stakeholders across the state of Georgia.
3) Knowledgeable in project management, editing, and design management.
4) Skilled in meeting planning, event coordination, and event logistics.
5) Assist with applied research under the direction of a PI or project manager. Example tasks include taking notes for calls and interviews, reviewing drafts of reports, and assisting with data collection.
6) Prepare executive-level reports, presentations, and correspondence.
7) Self-starter that is able to anticipate project logistics and coordination needs, effectively prioritize competing tasks, and complete tasks by deadlines.
8) Ability to analyze operational issues, recommend process improvements, implement solutions, improve program effectiveness and customer service.
9) Strong communication and soft skills. This position will interact with internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis.
10) Highly competent in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. |
