Utility Plant Operator 2 (Swing Shift) - South Mountain Restoration Center

This role focuses on operating and maintaining steam-generating systems that support essential facility needs. Your work ensures safe, efficient plant performance while completing mechanical, testing, and operational tasks. As a Utility Plant Operator 2, you will perform the following duties:

• Boiler Operation: Operate and maintain steam-generating boilers to meet daily facility demand
• Equipment Management: Regulate pumps, compressors, fans, and related systems needed for steam production
• Water Testing: Test water softness, chemical levels, and boiler conditions, and adjust materials as required
• Record Keeping: Record plant conditions, track equipment performance, and complete daily cleaning tasks
• Maintenance Tasks: Repair, install, and modify plant equipment, and support emergency generator operations
• Lead Responsibilities: Guide semi-skilled staff and assist with vehicle use to obtain supplies

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Relief Operator which is the swing shift between 1st shift (7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.), 2nd
  shift (3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.), and 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.)
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• One year of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment.

Special Requirements:

• You must be in possession of an active Class C motor vehicle license.
