THE POSITION

Step into a meaningful role as the Human Services Program Representative 1 with the Department of Human Services (DHS), Office of Children, Youth and Families. In this position, you help strengthen services for children, youth, and families by reviewing programs, guiding agencies, and supporting improvements. Your work promotes high-quality practices and reinforces important standards across communities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides consultation, evaluation, and administrative guidance to public and private agencies that serve children, youth, and families. The role involves reviewing services, analyzing data, and ensuring that programs follow state, federal, and departmental standards. As a Human Services Program Representative 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Agency Evaluation: Conduct on-site surveys and reviews to assess services and provide helpful guidance to agencies
  • Abuse Allegation Review: Analyze data and evaluate allegations of child abuse in approved public and private agencies and recommended actions
  • Program Compliance: Assess programs to ensure goals, objectives, and required standards are met
  • Report Preparation: Prepare and present evaluation results and improvement recommendations to agency leaders, boards, and county officials
  • Financial Analysis: Review contracts, audits, and reimbursement requests to confirm spending supports program goals
  • Policy Support: Recommend policy updates and assist agencies with understanding and implementing departmental requirements

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of professional experience developing, implementing, or evaluating a human service program, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
