In order to be considered for this position candidate must be serving permanently in the title of Electrician, or must have taken, passed, and be reachable on the Open Competitive Electrician Exam #3029. Minimum Qualifications 1. Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as an electrician; or Preferred Skills Preferred Skills: -Knowledge of fiber testing and splicing equipment, including but not limited to OTDR and fusion splicers. -Experience with outside plant (OSP) work, including cable splicing and cable pulling within the ECS manhole system in Manhattan. -Certification in fiber optic splicing. -Working knowledge of the citywide video platform, including systems such as Genetec (preferred). -Experience in large data center HVAC systems operation, maintenance, repair, and installation including both water cooled and Freon type systems (required). -Experience with large data center fiber optic networks, both inside plant and outside plant. -Experience with video networks and video distribution systems. -Experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), including video detection, microwave sensors, and E Z Pass tag readers. -Journeyman level experience with data center electrical systems, including strong working knowledge of battery backup systems, flywheel backup systems, and large diesel generators in excess of 1 megawatt. -Experience performing both loaded and unloaded testing and general maintenance of power backup systems. -Experience operating facilities during real world blackout conditions, including extended operation on backup power. -Experience with Traffic Signal Maintenance and Construction. -Experience with Municipal Street Lighting. -Traffic Signal Control experience is a plus. Some assignments may require a driver's license. Preference will be given to candidate who possess a driver's license valid in the state of New York with no restrictions.
