Job Summary

The Production Technician is responsible for the safe operation, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a cryogenic Air Separation Unit (ASU). This role ensures reliable plant performance by operating production equipment, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, monitoring process control systems, and maintaining compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience in an industrial manufacturing or process plant environment and strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.

Job Responsibilities



  • Operate and monitor a cryogenic Air Separation Unit (ASU) to ensure safe and efficient plant operation.
  • Perform routine plant inspections and daily operational rounds.
  • Monitor plant performance using SCADA, HMI, PLC, or similar process control systems.
  • Assist with truck loading, product transfers, and production operations.
  • Perform water sampling, testing, and related process monitoring activities.
  • Maintain production rates while ensuring product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain compressors, pumps, valves, motors, turbines, instrumentation, and other plant equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, equipment manuals, and process documentation.
  • Complete production reports, maintenance records, calibration documentation, and plant logs.
  • Support plant start-ups, shutdowns, and process troubleshooting activities.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, FDA/cGMP, and company safety and environmental standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and plant safety initiatives.
  • Assist with purchasing, production reporting, and other administrative duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating an Air Separation Unit (ASU) or a comparable industrial manufacturing or process plant.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
  • Experience with PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, or similar process control systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of water treatment, refrigeration systems, or air separation processes preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and equipment documentation.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced industrial environment.


Education



  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school education or military technical training preferred.
