In this role, you'll do more than manage day-to-day market operations-you'll set the tone for exceptional campus service, coach a dynamic crew, and gain valuable management experience with one of North Carolina's premier university dining programs. What You'll Do


  • Lead & Train: Supervise daily store operations, coach student and temporary staff, and foster a welcoming, high-energy environment.

  • Deliver Hospitality: Serve as a champion for outstanding customer service, ensuring every guest leaves satisfied.

  • Manage Operations & Inventory: Oversee point-of-sale (Micros POS) transactions, maintain accurate financial paperwork, track inventory, and ensure smooth purchasing/selling workflows.

  • Craft Quality Products: Safely prepare drinks and food to recipe standards-from pulling espresso shots and scooping ice cream to baking fresh cookies and making waffle cones.

  • Maintain High Standards: Execute daily cleaning protocols to uphold our proud Grade "A" Sanitation rating.

  • Adapt & Support: Pitch in across other dining locations as needed to keep campus running seamlessly.

  • Type: Hourly / Temporary

  • Location: On-Campus (NC State University)

  • Term Limit: Per State policy, temporary roles include a mandatory 31-day break after 24 months of continuous service. Superior performance offers opportunities to re-hire or transition to permanent roles.

Work Schedule Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8:30 pm with rotating weekends
Other Work/Responsibilities

  • Be an ambassador for NC State Dining and the university as a whole and enrich the quality of life for the campus community and support student success.
  • Work as a cohesive team member and play an integral part in creating a positive work environment.

Minimum Experience/Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work will also be considered.

  • Provide exemplary, courteous service to all guests, maintaining professionalism and composure during high-volume periods or difficult situations.
  • Work collaboratively as an active, supportive member of a team.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with customers, peers, and management.


Operational Skills & Execution

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment; adapts quickly to shifting customer volume with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Accurately processes financial transactions using credit card and NC State One Card POS systems.
  • Strong attention to detail with a proven track record of following written/verbal instructions and completing tasks efficiently.
  • Intermediate computer literacy with the ability to quickly learn custom department software.

Physical Demands & Environment: To succeed in this role, you must be comfortable standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for extended periods, as well as lifting up to 30 lbs (with or without reasonable accommodation). Roles take place in active kitchen and dining settings, requiring adaptability to both hot and cold working conditions.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Previous experience working in a similar capacity.
  • Supervising or purchasing experience.
  • Experience on a college or university campus if helpful.
