Summary

The Analytics Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting enterprise reporting and analytics solutions that turn business requirements into reliable, governed data assets. This role partners directly with business stakeholders and Data and Analytics teams to translate reporting, KPI, and analytics needs into scalable data pipelines, dimensional data models, semantic models, and Power BI solutions. The role also supports the organization's transition to Microsoft Fabric and modern Power BI architecture by helping improve data quality, model performance, documentation, and adoption of trusted reporting solutions.



Responsibilities

Essential Functions

    Partners with business stakeholders, departmental leaders, and Data and Analytics teams to understand reporting, KPI, and analytics needs and translate them into clear technical requirements
  • Designs, develops, and maintains scalable data models that support enterprise reporting, analytics, and self-service BI, including dimensional models, star schemas, and governed analytical datasets
  • Develops and supports semantic models for Power BI, ensuring measures, relationships, hierarchies, and business definitions are accurate, reusable, and aligned to approved business logic
  • Builds, enhances, and maintains reliable data pipelines, transformations, and curated datasets that convert raw data into trusted, actionable business insights
  • Develops SQL queries, stored procedures, views, data extracts, and other data assets for ad hoc analysis, recurring reporting, dashboard development, and business validation
  • Supports the organization's transition to Microsoft Fabric and Power BI by helping modernize reporting solutions, improve semantic model design, and reduce dependency on legacy reporting platforms
  • Collaborates with business users to validate data accuracy, reconcile reporting outputs, document assumptions, and communicate findings in a clear, business-friendly manner
  • Monitors existing metrics, datasets, and reports to identify data quality issues, process gaps, performance concerns, and opportunities for reporting improvement
  • Creates and maintains documentation for data models, semantic layers, source-to-target logic, business rules, calculations, and reporting definitions
  • Contributes to data governance practices by promoting standard definitions, trusted sources, metadata management, and structured access to enterprise data assets
  • Retrieves, integrates, and analyzes data from multiple sources, including APIs, logs, relational databases, non-relational databases, Excel, and other business applications


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related technology field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience designing data pipelines, and curated data assets across enterprise data platforms
  • Strong experience with data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, star schema design, data marts, and business-facing analytical models
  • Experience developing semantic models for Power BI, including relationships, reusable calculations, business measures, and performance considerations
  • Proficiency with SQL and experience developing queries, views, stored procedures, or scripts to support reporting, analytics, data validation, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to partner with business stakeholders, gather requirements, clarify business logic, and translate reporting and analytics needs into technical solutions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain data issues, tradeoffs, assumptions, and technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience working collaboratively with data engineering, BI, analytics, and business teams to deliver trusted reporting and analytics solutions
  • Self-directed, organized, and quality-focused with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work through ambiguity in a fast-paced environment

Desired/Preferred Qualification

  • Master's degree in a related technology, analytics, engineering, or business field
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Dataflows, semantic modeling, governed datasets, or modern lakehouse/warehouse architecture
  • Experience migrating reports, datasets, or semantic models from legacy platforms to modern BI or cloud data platforms
  • Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, data cataloging, source-to-target documentation, and standard reporting definitions
  • Experience creating business-facing dashboards, KPIs, and reporting solutions that support operational, financial, sales, or services analytics
