The successful candidate:

Facilitates the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedures are conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and maintenance of the sterile field.

Education/Experience Level
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist training program
  • Certification eligible
  • BLS Certified
  • Participation in continuing education programs
  • 2 years surgical tech experience preferred
Knowledge and skills
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, instruments, suture material, power and specialty equipment, drug and supply terminology.
  • Knowledge of safe equipment usage (i.e., BP machines, call light, bed check system, Endoscopy equipment)
  • Demonstrates active participation in KPI processes
  • Knowledge of competency in surgical techniques
  • Strong cognitive, technical and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with attention to detail
