Inova Fairfax Medical Center is looking for a dedicated Interventional Pulmonologist to join the team. This role will be full-time. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance eligible.

The Interventional Pulmonologist is a board-certified, fellowship-trained physician specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of complex lung, airway, and pleural diseases using advanced minimally invasive procedures. The IP physician provides comprehensive evaluation and management of patients with lung nodules, lung cancer, airway disorders, and other thoracic conditions while working within a multidisciplinary team that includes thoracic surgeons, oncologists, radiation oncologists, respiratory therapists, and lung navigators.

The Inova Fairfax Interventional Pulmonology team provides state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic options for lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies. We work closely with pathology and oncology to test all genetic markers that may improve the care of our patients.

Interventional Pulmonologist Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced diagnostic and therapeutic pulmonary procedures, including bronchoscopy, robotic bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), navigational bronchoscopy, airway stenting, airway dilation, and pleural interventions.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with lung nodules, lung cancer, complex airway disease, pleural disorders, and other thoracic conditions.
  • Conduct inpatient and outpatient consultations, develop treatment plans, and provide ongoing monitoring and follow-up care.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing, imaging studies, and pathology results to guide patient care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive, patient-centered care and optimize clinical outcomes.
  • Educate patients, families, trainees, and healthcare staff regarding pulmonary diseases, procedures, treatment options, and follow-up care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, lung cancer screening, lung nodule management programs, community outreach, and professional education activities.

Interventional Pulmonologist Additional Requirements:

  • Education: Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited institution.

  • Training: successful completion of internal medicine residency program and successful completion of Interventional Pulmonology fellowship.

  • Board Certification: Board eligible or board certified

  • Licensure: Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Virginia.

  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start.

  • Payer Credentialing: Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third-party payors and Ability to enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor

  • Medical Staff Credentialing: Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required services.
