That's why we're looking for a Senior Manager, eBilling Operations to lead the firm's eBilling function, driving operational excellence, compliance, and process improvements while ensuring the accurate and timely submission of client invoices across firmwide eBilling platforms. This is fundamentally a people-leadership role, and the Senior Manager's primary responsibility is to build, mentor, and direct a high-performing team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for...



  • Leading the team responsible for meeting eBilling deadlines, resolving complex eBilling issues, managing client and matter eBilling setups, and ensuring successful transmission of electronic invoices.
  • Creating and delivering training programs, documentation, and guidance to managers, supervisors, team members, attorneys, and Legal Administrative Assistants to support consistent, scalable operations across all firm offices.
  • Overseeing the firm's eBilling function to ensure the accurate and timely submission of invoices through client-mandated eBilling platforms while maintaining compliance with client billing guidelines and contractual requirements.
  • Overseeing client and matter rate overrides, managing the Firm's annual rate override reapproval process, and supervising the rate analyst team to ensure accurate and timely processing.
  • Partnering with firm leadership, Billing Managers, Billing Coordinators, attorneys, clients, vendors, and technology teams to resolve issues, improve workflows, and support firmwide eBilling operations.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining firmwide eBilling best practices, evaluating workflows, and leading initiatives focused on process improvements, automation, and operational efficiency.


The successful candidate will demonstrate...



  • A combination of successful people leadership with deep legal eBilling expertise and a commitment to operational excellence.
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience, along with a minimum of seven years of law firm eBilling.
  • At least three years of people-management experience in a professional services environment, with a demonstrated track record of leading teams through growth, change, and continuous improvement. Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop high-performing teams, build collaborative relationships, serve as a trusted advisor, and successfully lead organizational change.
  • Deep expertise in legal billing workflows and eBilling systems, with strong technology proficiency and the ability to leverage accounting tools to support reporting and client-specific eBilling requirements.
  • Experience driving operational improvements, managing competing priorities, implementing automation, and leading continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex issues, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong critical thinking, organizational, and client service skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while consistently delivering high-quality results.


Pay Range for Candidates in Baltimore: $160,000 - $175,000 per year

The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary that Venable in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and location. Additional compensation may include discretionary bonuses and overtime, if eligible. Overtime wages earned will be paid in compliance with applicable law.
