At NS2 Mission, data drives mission success. As a Data Engineer on our team in Chantilly, VA, you'll help design, build, and maintain modern data solutions that support critical Intelligence Community operations.

As part of a collaborative Agile team, you'll work alongside software engineers, data engineers, and mission stakeholders to develop scalable data pipelines, optimize cloud-based data platforms, and enable the efficient movement and transformation of data across complex environments. This role offers the opportunity to work with modern technologies while contributing to impactful national security missions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise data pipelines supporting mission-critical workflows.
  • Create and optimize Python-based solutions for data ingestion, transformation, and processing.
  • Support the movement and integration of structured and unstructured data across multiple systems and environments.
  • Partner with engineering teams to improve data quality, operational efficiency, and platform scalability.
  • Design and support cloud-based data solutions within AWS environments.
  • Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical reviews.
  • Investigate and resolve data-related issues while supporting production operations and system sustainment.
  • Contribute to automation efforts that improve the reliability and performance of data engineering processes.
  • Support testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of data platform capabilities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, data flow diagrams, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Approximately 4-8 years of professional experience supporting data engineering, software engineering, or related technical initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain ETL processes and enterprise data pipelines.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and experience building production-ready data solutions.
  • Hands-on knowledge of AWS cloud services, including technologies such as EC2, Lambda, EKS, and S3.
  • Proven success supporting scalable data platforms and production data workflows.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, data integration, and performance optimization principles.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and collaborative engineering environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of workflow orchestration platforms such as Apache Airflow.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices utilizing tools such as Terraform.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps methodologies.
  • Background working with large-scale datasets and distributed processing frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities with a track record of resolving complex technical challenges.

Position Clearance Requirement:

TS/SCI with an FSP
