The Salvation Army Midland Division Service Extension located in Sedalia, Missouri, is looking for a Service Extension Representative! This individual will provide intake, assessment, and services to individuals seeking emergency social services (ESS) assistance.

This is a part-time 29 hours per week, $18.00-$20.00 per hour depends on experience.

Essential Functions



  • Provide on-site and occasional outreach assistance to clients seeking emergency assistance, including intake, eligibility assessment, and resource matching.
  • Distribute food, vouchers, and financial aid as available; refer clients to external agencies when needed.
  • Maintain a current community resource guide, inform clients of available services, and collaborate with local organizations to enhance service delivery and act as liaison between clients and agencies.
  • Maintain accurate client records (electronic and paper), ensure confidentiality, and submit timely statistical and financial reports in accordance with divisional guidelines.
  • Facilitate applications for seasonal assistance, participate in related events, and provide emergency services during disasters, including extended and extreme conditions.
  • Oversee and operate the kettle fundraising initiative, including recruiting, coordinating, and managing volunteers to ensure successful campaign execution.
  • Identify, recruit, and engage volunteers to serve in an advisory committee role that supports the unit's mission through guidance and community insight.
  • Explore grant funding opportunities and collaborate with Divisional Service Extension Director to apply and meet reporting requirements.
  • Uphold The Salvation Army's mission in all service aspects, maintain Safe From Harm compliance, and foster a respectful, collaborative work environment.



Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in human services field with one (1) year related work experience with some supervisory experience. Combination of education and experience will be considered. Must have an outgoing personality with good communication skills and an ability to work with diverse cultures. Strong leadership style and good organizational skills required. Commitment to carry out The Salvation Army's mission is essential. Knowledge of The Salvation Army and Government, State and community resources is helpful. Must have working knowledge of computers. Must have reliable transportation, a valid Driver's License, and pass TSA MVR check. Good communication skills as well as the ability to work with diverse and challenging personalities are essential.

Physical and Working Conditions

Capable of occasionally lifting 20 pounds and sometimes up to 40 pounds. Occasionally move 50 or more pounds using dolly/cart/truck. Must be capable of performing in an office environment to include using a computer, answering phones, etc. Most work will be indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.
