What to Expect
Tesla seeks a Sr. Counsel, Infrastructure to join the legal team. In this role, you will support construction, capex and business teams on a variety of transactions and negotiations. The ideal candidate will have exposure to contracting, construction, permitting and general commercial transactions, along with a mix of law firm and in-house experience. A strong background in commercial and real estate or construction law is required, and litigation experience is preferred.
What You'll Do
- Primarily support the EPC, manufacturing, engineering and purchasing teams on the procurement of goods and services used in construction projects across the United States
- Manage and negotiate a high volume and wide range of commercial contracts, primarily in the area of construction and equipment purchases, but also including utility agreements, logistics and warehousing agreements, technology licensing agreements, development agreements, services agreements, and confidentiality agreements
- Provide advice on a wide variety of strategic, regulatory, and transactional matters
- Facilitate resolution of legal disputes
- Prepare and maintain contract forms to support Tesla's businesses and areas of operation in the United States
- As needed, assist in transactions to support the construction, infrastructure and production equipment teams within the global legal team
- Liaise with colleagues outside of the United States to ensure consistency of contracts and risk allocation across the various Tesla businesses
What You'll Bring
- Law degree, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 10 years of practice experience with a combination of law firm and in-house experience preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to proactively identify problems, drive projects, make complex cost and benefit assessments, and identify pragmatic legal and business solutions
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while juggling competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Quick and flexible learner who is intellectually curious, open-minded, adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity and risk, and excited by dynamic change
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly earn the confidence of colleagues

Expected Compensation
$212,000 - $342,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
