  • Workers in this position will rotate through 2 key areas as well as a third area that may be reserved for light duty work. The primary task of this line is to bag whole fryer chickens with specific pre-cleaned giblets inside. A group of workers are tasked with placing the giblets into the cavity of the bird as the bird passes. Four workers can work each side of the line and the line for a total of 8 workers if the line is fully running. The date we tested only one side was running at 60 birds per minute. Each of these 4 workers will place a specific type of giblet, (heart, liver, neck or gizzard) into the cavity of the bird as it passes on the hanging conveyor.
  • The birds then travel to the next area just down the line where workers will remove each unit from the line and place it into a bag with an absorbing pad under it. The bag is then sealed with a staple machine and drops to the out-feed conveyor. All of these workers rotate throughout the day, and each will spend time stuffing giblets as well as bagging fryers.
  • The downward push force performed when breaking legs of whole chicken fryers on the fryer line is 62.3 pounds. This is performed on a bagged chicken to break the legs, so they fit into the bag properly. The table height is 40 inches above the floor with adjustable steps that can be raised as high as 12 inches. Hand position during the downward force is pronated with bilateral palmer force against the bird. The height is adjusted at each station by moving the step up or down.
