Job Description

Vertex is seeking experienced commercial leader to join our US Pain Business Unit to support a new treatment option for acute pain, Journavx. The Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) Account Lead will be responsible for supporting the development of the GPO strategy and establishing and maintaining relationships with key GPO decision makers. This role involves collaborating with GPO stakeholders to deliver access for the US business unit, with innovative pricing and access strategies. We are looking for candidates with a proven history of delivering exceptional results, building strategic relationships, and embodying the Vertex values to earn the trust of GPOs and their members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish meaningful, professional relationships with key decision makers across assigned Hospital GPOs (i.e. Vizient, Premier, Health Trust, The Resource Group and Apexus), their networks, and their members to accelerate access for Vertex brands.
  • Serve as the lead for hospital GPO accounts, responsible for developing and executing cross-functional account strategies for product pull through.
  • Lead contract and pricing negotiations, compliantly, to effectively deliver favorable access through GPOs to their members in select classes of trade to Vertex products.
  • Develop and implement strategic account plans in partnership with Market Access Teams, Strategic Accounts and Commercial teams that support brand adoption within the GPO channel.
  • Provide channel expertise to internal teams and ensure coordination and alignment in strategic planning and execution.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on channel performance, trends, and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify and develop business opportunities that support pain BU strategies in collaboration with GPOs including conferences, marketing programs or other innovative opportunities.
  • Partner across the Pain BU with Market Access, Strategic Accounts, Commercial, Marketing, Contracting, Trade, Pricing, Legal, Compliance and Leadership along with other relevant support functions to drive product adoption and utilization of JOURNAVX.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare/biopharmaceuticals
  • 5+ years of experience in GPO account management

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of GPO operations and healthcare supply chain and with their Members
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with Group Purchasing Organizations
  • Experience in contract formation, negotiation, and management within a GPO setting
  • Success in developing innovative, growth or volume-based GPO price agreements
  • Demonstrated success in negotiating, executing, and implementing contracts.
  • Strong budget/financial analysis and modeling capability
  • Demonstrated history of achieving performance metrics and driving growth to support launch brands
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards and ensuring compliance with all company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Travel Requirements: Field based role with travel (~40%)

Pay Range:

$166,400 - $249,600

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
