Job Description

This role is responsible for the research, development, and continuous improvement of both existing and newly developed devices and process technologies used in the manufacture of Silicon Photonics-related devices within a semiconductor wafer foundry. The employee will exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to drive successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop and implement process technologies within a VLSI manufacturing and foundry environment.

* Design, characterize, and optimize silicon photonic devices.

* Participate in and coordinate experiments aimed at advancing technology development and enhancing yield.

* Collaborate with process engineering, test teams, and customers to define goals and identify effective manufacturing solutions.

* Design test structures (using CAD tools) and define testing protocols for device characterization (using ICCAP, LabView).

* Provide support in resolving customer issues, concerns, and inquiries.

* Support the transfer of process variants from development to production.

* Assist with process transfers to worldwide fabrication facilities, as needed.

Job Requirements

Must Have:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in a relevant field, or a B.S. with 5+ years of related experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Silicon Photonics-related process and device development roles.
  • Strong analytical capabilities combined with excellent interpersonal skills are required for this position.
  • Expert-level understanding of silicon photonic and optoelectronic device physics and design principles.
  • Specific computer skills desired: experience with optical simulation software (e.g. Lumerical) ability to read and edit mask layout data (e.g. Cadence Virtuoso software), experience with statistical data processing software (e.g. R or JMP), device and process TCAD simulation tools (e.g. Medici, Sentaurus etc.), experience with semiconductor fab lot management software (e.g. PROMIS or Workstream).
