The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. Position Summary
This position provides advanced coordination, oversight, and strategic support of all CVM facility operations, including the planning and implementation of facility-related initiaties supporting research, clinical, and instructional programs. Serves as a primary liaison with the Facilities Management Division ( FMD), Environmental Safety, and external contractors to ensure efficient execution of maintenance, construction, and compliance-related activities.

The role exercises independent judgment in prioritizing work, resolving facility-related issues, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. Oversees space, planning and utilization across office, laboratory, animal, and specialized research environments, and ensures facilities are maintained to operational, safety, and cleanliness standards.

Plans, manages, and coordinates complex facility projects across multiple CVM locations, including Tifton, VMC, research and biocontainment areas, animal care facilities, and instructional spaces. Provides leadership in building systems oversight, environmental and safety compliance, and support of high-profile CVM events. This position requires participation in an on-call rotation and serves as a key resource for emergency response and operational continuity.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Extensive knowledge of standard skilled trade operations and repair methods.

Considerable knowledge of the materials and tools used in building work.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with extensive constituent base.
Physical Demands
Involves some heavy lifting and working in extreme weather conditions and/or unconditioned spaces (heat or cold).

Wear PPE including respirator, full hood with gloves and independent air source, gloves, boots. PPE may weigh in excess of 7 pounds. Regular multiple showers depending upon frequency of containment access.

Work with arms extended or over head for long periods of time.

1. Leads and coordinates maintenance, repair, and construction activities across CVM facilities, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities.
2. Collaborates with FMD, Environmental Safety, and external contractors - including federal and state agencies ( EPD, CDC, State Fire Marshal) - to support complex construction and compliance projects.
3. Reviews, prioritizes, and approves work requests, exercising independent judgment based on operational impact.
4. Monitors and evaluates contractor and FMD performance, ensuring work meets established standards; independently resolves issues and escalates when necessary.
5. Provides guidance and direction to staff, contractors, and stakeholders on facilities-related processes and requirements.
6. Participates in a rotating on-call schedule and responds to after=hours facility emergencies.

2. Serves as the primary point of coordination for events, working with UGA departments, external clients, and regulatory stakeholders.
3. Ensures appropriate staffing, logistics, and facility readiness for events, exercising decision-making authority in resolving conflicts or issues.
4. Oversees assignment and utilization of office, laboratory, and animal spaces, recommending changes to optimize efficiency and compliance.
5. Provides leadership in coordinating cross-functional support for high-visibility events and institutional initiatives.
