Posting Summary
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will join a multidisciplinary research team focused on cognitive aging and health. The selected candidate will work under the mentorship of Dr. Michal Schnaider Beeri, Ph.D., Director of the Krieger Klein Alzheimer's Research Center, and Dr. Zhiping Pang, Ph.D., Director of the Center for NeuroMetabolism. Reporting to the Principal Investigator on grant-funded projects, the individual will play a key role in supporting laboratory operations and advancing ongoing research initiatives.
Primary responsibilities include the culture and expansion of human stem cells, maintenance and archiving of stem cell lines in liquid nitrogen, and conducting quality control assessments. The researcher will also prepare human neuronal cultures, including both 2D and 3D models, for experimental studies.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong record of accomplishment in a relevant area of biomedical research, evidenced by first-author peer-reviewed publications. Expertise in human stem cell culture, immunocytochemistry, confocal or advanced imaging, and related molecular biology techniques is highly desirable. In addition to experimental contributions, the Postdoctoral Research Associate will assist in mentoring and training staff and students, support experimental design and planning, and contribute to the development and implementation of new technical approaches within the laboratory.
The individual will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams involved in NIH-funded projects, actively participate in group meetings, and present updates on stem cell methodologies and overall research progress.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience

  • PhDs degree in life sciences or related field (such as neuroscience, cell biology or bioengineering). Prior experience with cell culture, molecular biology and immunohitochemistry is required.
  • At least 5 years of research laboratory experience and demonstrated supervision of technical staff is required. Prior safety training in Biosafety Level 2 (BSL2) procedures is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in sterile technique, including standard cell culture.
  • Background knowledge of neurodegeneration and/or Alzheimer's disease.
  • Experience with live cell imaging in 2D or 3D cell culture models; electrophysiology and 3D neuronal culture.
  • Experience in data analysis and/or statistical methods is helpful.

Equipment Utilized
  • Biosafety cabinets, liquid nitrogen freezers, microscopes, centrifuges, gel electrophoresis, electroporators, qPCR thermal cyclers, and computers.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Be capable of working in a biosafety cabinet for several hours in a seated position.
