DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role supports the work of the sign shop by helping make traffic signs for statewide use. It provides hands-on learning that builds important skills for future growth. As a Tradesman Helper, you will perform the following duties:

  • Shop Training: Learn tasks and tools used in the manufacture of traffic signs under guidance from shop staff
  • Tool Use: Operate hand tools and equipment to complete assigned shop projects
  • Equipment Support: Assist with setting up, adjusting, and maintaining equipment used in sign production
  • Paint Application: Mix and apply paint through the silk screen process for sign creation
  • Sign Layout: Lay out and apply letters, numbers, and figures on sign blanks following print details
  • Inventory Help: Assist with organizing and maintaining shop inventory and materials

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Temporary, full-time employment - 9 months
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
