Overview
BigBear.ai is seeking a Mid level AWS Developer for a federal government engagement. Responsible for designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud applications and services in an AWS environment, with a focus on delivering reliable solutions that meet federal performance, security, and compliance requirements.
What you will do
- Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable cloud-native applications and services within an AWS environment
- Build and deploy APIs, microservices, and serverless solutions to support mission-critical federal government initiatives
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions in an Agile environment
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment processes to improve efficiency and reliability
- Monitor application performance and system health using AWS monitoring and logging tools, ensuring availability and operational excellence
- Apply AWS security best practices, including IAM, encryption, logging, and least-privilege access controls to meet federal security requirements
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance cloud applications for performance, scalability, and reliability
- Support cloud modernization efforts by leveraging AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, VPC, and CloudWatch
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to automate processes and improve development workflows
- Ensure solutions align with federal compliance, security, and operational standards
What you need to have
- Bachelor's Degree and 5 to 8 years of experience
- 5+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years in AWS
- Strong hands-on experience with core AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, and API Gateway
- Proficiency in one or more modern languages: Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript/TypeScript
- Experience building and deploying cloud-native applications, APIs, and microservices
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and automation
- Experience with security best practices, including least-privilege access, encryption, logging, and monitoring
- Familiarity with federal government environments and secure delivery expectations
- Ability to work in an agile team and collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders
What we'd like you to have
- AWS certifications
- Python development experience
- Experience with containers and orchestration, such as Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS
- Experience with serverless architecture
- Exposure to FedRAMP, NIST, or other federal security frameworks
- Clearance or ability to obtain one, if required by the client
