Data Center Cable Technician (Entry-Level) Fort Wayne, Indiana Full-Time Contract (6 Months - Potential for Extension or Permanent Hire) $20-22 an hour + Benefits About the Opportunity TEKsystems is seeking motivated and reliable Telecommunications Technicians to support a large-scale, fast-paced infrastructure project in Fort Wayne. This is a hands-on, field-based role ideal for individuals looking to build or grow a career in telecommunications, low-voltage, and network infrastructure. Schedule & Work Environment * Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM (50 hours/week required) * Work Type: On-site / Field-based What You'll Be Doing As a Telecommunications Technician, you will play a key role in building and maintaining critical infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include: * Installing and routing low-voltage cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic as applicable) * Performing rack and stack of network equipment (routers, switches, patch panels) * Supporting telecommunications system installations and upgrades * Troubleshooting connectivity and performance issues * Testing and verifying cable installations to industry standards * Assisting with device configuration and system setup (VoIP, PBX, etc.) * Maintaining clean and organized job sites and documentation * Following all safety protocols and best practices What We're Looking For We're looking for dependable individuals who are eager to learn and take pride in their work. Must-Have Skills & Traits * Strong interest in telecommunications, low-voltage, or IT infrastructure * Basic knowledge of cabling, networking equipment, or electronics * Ability to use hand tools and work in a physical, hands-on environment * Reliable transportation and strong punctuality * Solid work ethic and attention to detail * Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Preferred Qualifications * Previous experience in telecom, construction, or low-voltage installation * Familiarity with: * Cable installation and termination * Network hardware (routers, switches) * VoIP or PBX systems * Technical certifications (nice to have, not required) Entry-level candidates with the right attitude and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply!
