Our customer's Intermodal Operations (AZIM) organization operates within the Middle Mile transportation network and is responsible for coordinating freight movement across rail, truck, fulfillment center, and shipper locations throughout North America. Leveraging transportation operations, technology, and real-time logistics coordination, the organization ensures freight moves efficiently, reliably, and on schedule across the supply chain. The AZIM Operations team serves as the central command center for freight execution, monitoring shipments from pickup through final delivery and partnering with carriers, drivers, rail operators, fulfillment centers, and internal stakeholders. As the first line of defense for transportation disruptions, the team identifies delays, missed appointments, dwell issues, and other exceptions, then drives timely resolution to maintain network performance and service reliability. As a Transportation Specialist, you will monitor active shipments, investigate transportation disruptions, identify root causes, and coordinate real-time solutions to keep freight moving across the network. Acting as a key point of contact for carriers, drivers, rail partners, and internal teams, you will leverage internal systems and operational data to support on-time pickup and delivery performance. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and brings strong customer service, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. The impact of this role is significant, as Transportation Specialists help prevent delays, improve carrier and driver experiences, and maintain the uninterrupted flow of freight throughout the network. By quickly resolving operational issues and ensuring execution standards are met, they directly contribute to transportation efficiency, supply chain reliability, and a seamless experience for end customers. The Intermodal (AZIM) Operations team is seeking highly skilled and motivated Transportation Specialists to join this rapidly growing team. AZIM Operations drives the end to end operational execution of all loads (internal and external) shipped on our 1P network. The team supports regions and shippers across the Supply Chain network and is tasked with ensuring on-time pickup and delivery of freight from vendors, fulfillment centers (FCs), rail yards and shipper hubs. In the case of disruptions, the Operations team is responsible for addressing the disruption, keeping all stakeholders informed and ensuring timely resolution of the issue. The AZIM Operations team is the first line of defense in understanding network trends, delays, dwells and other exceptions that impact AZIM's ability to deliver a world class transportation product that serves its customers on time. An ideal candidate has in customer service/call center, transportation, and/or supply chain environments. Additionally, a passion for quickly providing solutions and resolution to challenges by using strong communication, problem solving and organizational skills is a must. Successful candidates will enjoy working in a fast-pace, high-volume call center environment with a lot of growth opportunity. Key job responsibilities -Deliver excellent carrier and driver experience/solutions, in a high-volume contact center environment, through researching, problem-solving, setting appropriate expectations and working within the Transportation network to get trailers/trucks back on track when disruptions occur - Work in fast-paced environment, and adhere to schedules: start/stop, and breaks/lunches - Support workload surges and/or weather-related operations as needed to include working significant overtime during designated high-volume peaks - Use internal systems to gather data from multiple sources to support reporting on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis - Provide support to field teams and partners by creating repair requests, monitoring load execution, ensuring on-time pickup and delivery metrics - Work with cross-functional teams. Use analytical skills to drive data-driven decision, and effectively communicate insights to others across Transportation Operations Management, Freight Shippers, rail partners, Carriers, and Fleet - Provide support to drivers and carriers with over the road disruptions Your calls will be monitored and recorded for training and compliance purposes. A day in the life The AZIM Transportation Operations Specialist facilitates the continued flow of our customer's supply chain by passing information to key stakeholders and resolving disruptions that impact customer experience or the flow of information impacting performance and delivery. The Specialist addresses or escalates any concerns arising during the lifecycle of freight leaving rail ramps, shipper hubs, fulfillment centers, or transiting between rail to OTR carriers. The day-to day role requires the specialist to provide resolutions by researching and querying internal tools and making real-time decisions in accordance with their guidance and standard work processes. In this role, the Transportation Operations Specialist will be able to understand the process and requirements/be able to analyze data and notice trends and be able to drive Customer Experience without compromising on time. This position will need to have the experience to understand Logistics and should be able to communicate clearly in the written and oral form.
