*Description*
Kroger is going through their Next Gen POS modernization effort and their goal is to develop features in 26, and rollout in 27. They will stay on Toshiba HW but build in house a large majority of the SW to sit on this HW. They are trying to automate alot of the manual processes today and to allow for SW push automated updates so they can build on the experiences more frequently. This effort is aligned to Cashiers, self checkout, fuel and pharmacy associates and consumers. They call these areas Architypes. This particular role will be looking at an opportunity to work more closely with business partners and those in particular that lead stores and store associates. They will partner with the retail ops teams today and help work through more of the automation they are building out. Today this is highly manual, takes time and all hands on deck at each retail location. They are looking to gain access to Claude for the consultants right now that is 50% used along with 50% Figma Make. This role will wear a few hats, heavy research and setting the stage up front with their Product Manager peer, then working with SW engineering to bring this to life. They will be involved in Research, product design, journey mapping; incorporating in what tools to potentially consider while on this journey constantly keeping front and center the human factors side - and how all of this will ultimately impact the varying resources in the store. They really need to be able to think out of the box on how to use technology here. Desired candidates would have some AI experience in design or at least very open, exploring it already and curious. This role will have some travel within an hour or two. Key important areas are to conduct in person research with say a checkout associate, an associate in the pharmacy, service centers, etc. This Product Designer role will support Kroger's Next Generation Point of Sale (NGPOS) initiative to modernize the checkout experience across our stores, pharmacies, and fuel centers. The candidate will work as part of a Product Design team focused on NGPOS's end-user experience, data platform, and release enablement tool. The ideal candidate will be located near our Blue Ash Technology office to validate UX onsite in our test lab and be comfortable visiting Kroger stores to observe technology, associates, and customers firsthand.
