An established and growing organization is looking to add a Director of Finance & Accounting to its leadership team. This individual will take ownership of both the accounting function and financial planning efforts, helping to enhance visibility into performance, strengthen internal processes, and support strategic business initiatives.

This role is ideal for a leader who enjoys operating both strategically and tactically-someone who can roll up their sleeves while also partnering across the business to influence key decisions and drive results.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Oversee the company's budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning processes
  • Analyze financial results and provide insights to support operational and strategic decisions
  • Partner with cross-functional leadership to evaluate business performance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Lead development of reporting packages and monthly financial reviews
  • Support modeling for investments, growth initiatives, and operational changes
  • Monitor cash flow trends and assist with financial planning at the enterprise level

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Direct all day-to-day accounting operations, including the close process and financial reporting
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of financial statements in accordance with applicable standards
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external audits and compliance-related activities
  • Drive efficiencies through process improvements and system enhancements
  • Mentor and develop accounting team members, building a strong internal bench
  • Oversee key areas such as reconciliations, journal entries, and financial controls
  • Partner with external advisors on tax and regulatory matters
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, including leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles
  • Prior experience overseeing both accounting and FP&A functions
  • Track record of improving processes and implementing operational efficiencies
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • CPA, CMA, and/or MBA preferred
  • Experience in a complex, operationally driven environment (e.g., manufacturing, construction, distribution, etc.) is a plus
  • Exposure to system implementations, upgrades, or automation initiatives preferred
  • Experience managing audits and working with external advisors

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
