API Gateway Engineer

Peraton is seeking a Senior API Gateway Engineer for a remote position. This role may require occasional travel to the client's site in Quantico, VA therefore it is preferred candidate is local to the Washington, D.C Metro area, but not a requirment.

This an opportunity to use Large Solution Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) agile processes to develop, maintain, integrate, and operate cloud-hosted personnel security and assurance systems and applications, integrating their functionality into a modern system of system. This effort resulting system development solution supports thousands of users performing a critical national security mission.

What you'll do:

Perform gateway administration and operations, including configuring and maintaining API gateway virtual appliances
• Configure policies for message transformation, protocol translation and service orchestration
• 24x7 support for troubleshooting issues involving API Gateways
• Create and maintain design documentation, including sequence diagrams and use cases for internal and external use
• Software deployment and patching
• Create update bundles between gateways using the Gateway Migration Utility
• Coordinate integration of SiteMinder and other identity providers with the API Gateway
• Design and implement API security protocols
• Optimize the performance of the API gateway by monitoring and analyzing system logs, identifying bottlenecks and implementing performance tuning measures
• Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to gather requirements and implement new features
• Keep up-to-date with industry trends and new technologies related to API gateways and integration

Required Qualifications:

• Education: 12 years with BS/BA; 10 years with MS/MA; 7 years with a PhD
• Certifications: Relevant DoD 8570 Security certification (such as CISSP or Security+)
• Clearance: Active TS clearance
• Requires in-depth experience with API Gateway, with exposure to ITSM Tools (Remedy, Service Now, JIRA Help Desk etc)
• Exposure to web services (SOAP, RESTful, XML, JSON, etc.)
• Knowledge of IT standards, methodologies, system development life cycle and project management frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Mulesoft API products (Mulesoft certification desired)
• Local to the Washington DC Metro area (preferred)
