Job Summary

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Technician supports the implementation and maintenance of environmental, health, safety, industrial hygiene, and regulatory compliance programs within a manufacturing environment. This role assists with accident prevention, environmental compliance, hazardous waste management, employee safety training, audits, inspections, and reporting activities. The EHS Technician works closely with management, supervisors, contractors, and employees to maintain a safe workplace, ensure compliance with applicable regulations, and support continuous improvement initiatives related to environmental stewardship and workplace safety.

Job Responsibilities



  • Assist with accident, incident, and near-miss investigations and support corrective action implementation.
  • Maintain environmental, health, safety, and industrial hygiene records, files, and documentation.
  • Support safety committee activities and safety improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing and delivering environmental, health, and safety presentations and training programs.
  • Conduct employee training programs, including forklift safety, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hazard communication, environmental compliance, and other safety-related topics.
  • Perform routine inspections, audits, and safety tours throughout the facility to identify hazards and compliance concerns.
  • Monitor contractor activities and ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Assist with hazardous waste management activities, including waste characterization, storage, pickups, disposal coordination, and shipment preparation.
  • Support compliance with applicable environmental permits and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete environmental, safety, and compliance reports accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Assist with maintaining environmental, health, and safety databases and tracking systems.
  • Support fire protection system inspections and maintenance activities.
  • Review equipment installations, process modifications, and facility changes for environmental, health, and safety considerations.
  • Conduct ergonomic evaluations and workplace assessments.
  • Assist with facility safety, maintenance, and repair-related initiatives.
  • Support recycling, waste reduction, and environmental sustainability programs.
  • Participate in internal and external environmental, health, and safety audits.
  • Collaborate with management and department personnel to reduce workplace injuries, property damage, and environmental risks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety principles, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, MIOSHA, DOT, EPA, and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Experience with hazardous waste handling, storage, transportation, and disposal processes.
  • DOT and hazardous materials training preferred.
  • Experience conducting workplace inspections, audits, and compliance assessments.
  • Ability to deliver safety and environmental training to employees.
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene concepts and workplace hazard recognition.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to utilize databases and computerized reporting systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze information, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.


Education



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree or coursework in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred.


Work Experience



  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety, manufacturing safety, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience supporting hazardous waste management programs preferred.
  • Experience conducting employee safety training and compliance audits preferred.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, industrial, production, or facility environments preferred.
  • Fire department, emergency response, rescue squad, or related safety-response experience is a plus.
  • Experience supporting environmental permitting and regulatory compliance activities preferred.
