Job Summary

The Merchandiser is responsible for servicing retail accounts by ensuring products are properly stocked, rotated, displayed, and maintained according to merchandising standards. This role supports sales growth by building strong customer relationships, maintaining product availability, identifying merchandising opportunities, and ensuring company equipment and displays are presented professionally. The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced retail environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Merchandise products at assigned large and small retail locations.
  • Stock shelves, coolers, displays, and promotional areas to maintain product availability.
  • Rotate products according to established product rotation standards to minimize expired or damaged inventory.
  • Maintain merchandising equipment, displays, and fixtures to ensure they are clean, functional, and professionally presented.
  • Execute merchandising programs, promotional displays, and company merchandising standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify the appropriate sales representative of out-of-stock products, damaged merchandise, and merchandising opportunities.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with store managers and retail personnel.
  • Observe competitor merchandising activities, product launches, pricing, and promotions, and communicate relevant information to the sales team.
  • Support sales initiatives by assisting with promotional displays and product placement opportunities.
  • Maintain required records and documentation in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Utilize smartphone applications and other technology to complete reporting, merchandising activities, and route documentation.
  • Operate company equipment and maintain accurate mileage, fuel, and activity records as required.
  • Represent the organization professionally while servicing customer accounts and operating a vehicle safely.
  • Collaborate with sales and merchandising teams to support business objectives.
  • Perform additional merchandising and customer service duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
  • Reliable personal vehicle available for work-related travel with required insurance coverage.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Basic sales and merchandising knowledge.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency using smartphones and mobile technology.
  • Ability to accurately assess inventory levels and merchandising opportunities.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and reports.
  • Fluent in English.


Work Experience



  • Previous merchandising experience preferred.
  • Experience in retail, customer service, sales support, grocery, beverage, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or route merchandising preferred.
  • Additional language skills are considered an asset.
