HealthPartners is offering a 12-month postgraduate fellowship program to Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners interested in advanced training in primary care with a targeted start date of January 2027. The HealthPartners Primary Care Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) Fellowship is designed to support new graduate APCs in their transition to practice or experienced APCs in their transition to a new specialty. Drawing upon the ACGME Family Medicine Core Competencies and common patient care presentations, the program provides comprehensive clinical and didactic experiences that foster competence and confidence in delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care to in the outpatient setting. Responsibilities include obtaining histories, performing physical examinations, developing differential diagnoses, formulating assessment and management plans, coordinating care, providing patient education and treatment, and participating in all required educational opportunities. Clinical supervision and support are provided by mentoring physicians and APCs. Primary Care APC fellows will spend a significant portion of their training at an assigned primary care host clinic that is in the Twin Cities or surrounding area with additional rotations in specialty areas that are pertinent to primary care. Candidates will be informed of available host sites during the interview process. Through diverse rotations, didactic lectures, skills training, and structured mentorship, APC fellows gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary for a successful career in primary care. Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program Note: Applicants may be in final year of completing this requirement with hiring dependent upon successful completion. Licensure/Certification Required: Current national certification by the NCCPA Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant in Minnesota -or- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State of Minnesota Current national certification by the AANP, ANCC or AACN Current licensure to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult-Gerontological Nurse Practitioner in Minnesota Note: Candidates are welcome to apply prior to having formal licensure and certification but must be obtained at least 3 months prior to start date of program.
