Position Summary
The Social Clinical Research Assistant will support the genetic counselors (GC) in carrying out clinical, Newborn Screening Program, and research duties. All responsibilities will be performed under the supervision of a licensed provider, with appropriate training provided. Newborn Screening Program: Support the NBS program by compiling, interpreting, distributing, and communicating all test results received by the Division. Maintain and update the patient database to ensure accurate and up-to-date records. Clinic and Patient Support: Review all scheduled referrals and maintain the urgent patient waitlist. Communicate with families and medical providers to request additional medical records and history. Obtain and discuss Benefits Investigations (BI) and assist with prior authorizations and peer-to-peer reviews for genetic testing. Interface with referral testing and genetic laboratory companies regarding patient sample collection, test requisition forms, status updates, and additional requested records. Aid in the coordination of specialty clinics, including Angelman, Prader-Willi Syndrome, Lysosomal Storage Disease, and others. Clinical Research Projects: Participate in clinical research projects by collecting and maintaining data.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
