Job Summary
#CA-PS Under the direction of the Director of the Business Enablement Team (BET), this position requires both technical leadership and broad business knowledge to ensure delivery of high quality, strategic, scalable, and secure digital solutions, applications and technology services. This position functions with a high degree of autonomy while maintaining effective communications to ensure data developed and applications meet business requirements. The position provides leadership in software architecture and infrastructure, application development, data integration, and long-term systems design to advance division goals.
The role supervises and mentors programmers, system administrators and business systems analysts within the Technology Strategy and Solutions team, administering policies and providing guidance on best practices, standards, and methodologies. It oversees all phases of the team's software development lifecycle-including requirements gathering, business process analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, quality assurance, documentation, and maintenance-ensuring that solutions are reliable, user-focused, and accessible.
The Applications Programmer Supervisor 2 manages the development and integration of applications with the division's technology stack and campus platforms; oversees service management to end users; and maintains the server, infrastructure, and data resources required for complex applications. The role oversees information security for the division, ensures adherence to campus data and security governance, and advances the automation of operational processes.
The role also leads the strategic evaluation, governance, and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies to drive innovation, improve operational efficiency, and support data-informed decision-making across the division. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in software development, enterprise systems architecture, application integration, or large-scale enterprise application environments. Significant experience with application development, APIs, middleware, web services, and data integration technologies.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing complex enterprise or cloud-based application architectures that integrate multiple systems and platforms.
- Experience working with enterprise or SaaS platforms such as CRM systems, learning management systems, analytics platforms, or other large-scale institutional systems. Knowledge of enterprise systems architecture, software development lifecycle (SDLC), and systems integration methods including APIs, middleware, and data integration across enterprise and cloud-based platforms.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives or supervising technical staff, including developers, system administrators, or analysts. Ability to lead technical teams and collaborate with stakeholders, translating business requirements into secure, reliable, and sustainable technology solutions.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and overseeing information security practices, including access management, data protection, risk mitigation, and compliance with institutional or regulatory security standards.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Skill in designing scalable technical solutions and integrating multiple applications and systems to support complex operational environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience working in higher education or continuing and professional education environments, supporting academic or student-facing technology systems.
- Experience architecting and integrating enterprise SaaS platforms such as CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), learning management systems (e.g., Canvas), enterprise data warehouses, analytics platforms, or student information systems.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise integration frameworks, including API management, middleware, event-driven architectures, or integration platforms.
- Experience leading cross-platform digital transformation initiatives that unify multiple systems into a cohesive and scalable technology ecosystem.
- Experience implementing automation, workflow orchestration, or low-code/no-code solutions to streamline operational processes.
- Experience evaluating or implementing artificial intelligence (AI), advanced analytics, or machine learning solutions to enhance operational efficiency, decision-making, or user experience.
- Knowledge of enterprise SaaS platforms and technology ecosystems commonly used in higher education, such as CRM systems, learning management systems, data warehouses, and analytics platforms.
- Knowledge of cloud technologies, automation, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and advanced analytics that support scalable and innovative digital services.
- Skill in leading enterprise integration and digital transformation initiatives that unify systems into a cohesive and scalable technology platform.
