Job Description

Genomic Coordinator - San Juan Capistrano, CA, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

This position is 100% remote.

This position will aid the GC team and Operations to ensure that clients of Quest Diagnostics Incorporated receive genetics services, both consultative and laboratory, of the highest quality possible. Under the direction, or working with Genomic Counselor Org member, incumbent will be responsible for assisting genomics counselors in their role of providing client service and support for laboratory operations.

Pay range: $59,000 plus

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities:

Perform administrative duties of a complex and sensitive nature, including but not limited to:



  • Coordinate molecular prenatal samples: intake, monitoring growth, ensuring samples are added to batches in a timely fashion.
  • Test code verifications and requisition reviews when needed
  • Obtain clinical information on specific samples as needed
  • Resolve Problem log in Cytogenetics lab
  • Creation, curation and updating of various clinical databases
  • Perform literature searches when needed
  • Obtain clinical outcome data for targeted assays when needed
  • Initial prenatal intakes
  • Coordination of samples submitted for family studies
  • Calling out significant positive results and faxes when appropriate
  • Calling elevated AFAFPs to alert the client and to let them know that ACHE and HbF are being performed
  • Confirmation calls to client when a Part 2 is submitted after a positive Part 1
  • Functions as liaison with inter- and intra-clinical department members.
  • Triaging calls to the GC when appropriate
  • Coordination of VUS reclassification requests
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

Knowledge:

Working knowledge of PC operation, including appropriate genetics packages and standards such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access

Skills:



  • Strong communication and telephone skills
  • Proven ability to accomplish tasks both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Exemplify professionalism consistent with Quest Diagnostics' values, vision and mission
  • Strong organizational abilities


Education



  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
