THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides skilled maintenance support for the Farm Show Complex and related facilities. Through your work, you will ensure for safe, dependable, and efficient operations throughout the year during events and routine maintenance. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Lead Projects: Guide maintenance activities with tradesman helpers and laborers using power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, and motorized equipment
  • Skilled Maintenance: Perform repairs under the direction of skilled trades including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, welding, HVAC, and utility plant operations
  • Facility Repairs: Repair and maintain water and gas lines, doors and gates, drainage systems, windows, fixtures, and concrete features throughout the complex
  • Equipment Upkeep: Operate, service, and maintain motorized equipment and assist with preventive maintenance and inspection tasks for the facility fleet
  • Record Keeping: Document maintenance activities, equipment use, and service logs as part of ongoing preventive maintenance programs
  • General Support: Assist with housekeeping tasks, painting projects, snow removal, and grounds care as needed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Thursday - Monday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Work schedule may vary based on operational needs.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requirespossession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience working with animals and livestock in large-scale public events.
  • Experience working at heights, using ladders or motorized equipment.
