Job Summary
The Lab Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of a research laboratory supporting multiple ongoing projects. Working closely with the Principal Investigator and research staff, the Lab Manager plays a central role in coordinating study activities, managing timelines, and ensuring projects meet established milestones while adhering to research protocols.

This role requires a high degree of independence, organization, and initiative. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desirable.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in a related field. A minimum of two years experience with lab equipment and related facilities.

  • Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Psychology, Linguistics, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desirable.
  • 3 or more years of experience in research-related activities or project coordination.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly when working with families and community partners.
  • Experience with REDCap or similar data management systems.
  • Experience in human subjects research, including familiarity with IRB processes.

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the planning and coordination of multiple research projects across the lab, ensuring study milestones are achieved within established scope and timelines.
  • Leads participant recruitment efforts and coordinates the scheduling of all study activities across projects.
  • Coordinates testing and data collection activities, maintains datasets, and ensures strict adherence to study protocols.
  • Oversees data entry, quality control, and ongoing database maintenance in REDCap, including building and refining data collection instruments, managing user access, and conducting routine data exports and audits.
  • Supervises and supports research staff and students, including coordinating onboarding and training activities.
  • Assists in the preparation of IRB and NIH reports and other required documentation.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for study participants, families, community partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinates communication across project teams, collaborators, and study sites.
  • Monitors project progress and proactively identifies and resolves logistical and operational challenges.
