Intern- Finance Rotational

This 6-week, shadowing-focused internship provides exposure to three core lines of business: Credit, Private Banking, and Wealth Management. The intern will spend approximately 80% of time observing day-to-day work and guided discussions with hosts, and 20% completing structured learning reflections and deliverables.

Key learning areas include: underwriting basics, loan structuring, Dollar Bank loan product overview, risk mitigation practices, relationship management, sales calls and business development, and cross-department collaboration.

Primary Responsibilities

* Participate in scheduled job shadowing experiences across Credit, Private Banking, and Wealth Management, arriving prepared and on time.
* Maintain a daily learning log capturing: activities observed, key terms/processes, questions, and connections to prior rotations.
* Follow all confidentiality and privacy requirements; do not record or retain customer-identifying information.
* Actively engage in debriefs by asking thoughtful questions and summarizing understanding back to hosts.
* Complete weekly deliverables (short written summaries and visual maps) and incorporate feedback.
* Prepare and deliver a final capstone summary/presentation highlighting end-to-end client service and personal takeaways.
Required Deliverables
* Daily Learning Log (5-10 bullets/day): submitted or shared with assigned coordinator at the end of each day.
* Weekly Recap (up to 1 page): what was observed, vocabulary learned, top risks/controls noticed, and remaining questions (due each Friday).
* Loan Lifecycle Map (Week 2): 1-2 pages describing key steps and stakeholders from intake through decisioning and monitoring (anonymized).
* Business Development Playbook (Week 4): 1-2 pages on how prospects are identified, prepared for, contacted, and followed up.
* Cross-Department Collaboration Map (Week 5): 1 page showing how Credit, Private Banking, and Wealth Management coordinate for a client.
* Capstone (Week 6): 10-15 minute presentation + 1-2 page executive summary.

Schedule & Expectations

* Spend ~80% of time shadowing (meetings, workflow observation, guided walkthroughs) and ~20% on reflection, filing & document scanning, and deliverables.
* Maintain a professional calendar, confirm meeting logistics, and communicate conflicts early.
* Use professional communication (email etiquette, concise summaries, timely follow-ups).
* Seek feedback weekly and demonstrate improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

* Interest in banking, finance, business, or economics; coursework in accounting/finance is helpful but not required.
* Strong attention to detail, professionalism, and ability to handle confidential information.
* Clear written and verbal communication skills.
* Comfort asking questions and learning from observation.
* Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
