Through thorough analysis, the Retail Underwriting Officer will guarantee that all loan application packages contain appropriate information and documentation necessary to satisfy the requirements of Bank, Fannie Mae, and GSE guidelines. This position also provides an approval or rejection of the loan application based on an informed underwriting decision using the above guidelines.
. Qualifications High school diploma/GED required, college degree preferred. Three (3) years of loan processing experience is required, to include familiarity with Fannie Mae and FHA guidelines. VA experience is a plus. Underwriting experience is preferred. Must be willing to obtain FHA Direct Endorsement within one (1) year of employment. Strong analytical and research skills required. Demonstrated ability and desire to provide high quality customer service. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must have proficient computer skills and ability to learn Dollar Bank's software packages. Must be well versed in using Desktop Underwriter underwriting system. Must be detail-oriented, organized and work efficiently under pressure Be able to adapt to change. Must be able to work independently. Principal Activities/Objectives Complete a detailed analysis of an appraisal report and loan file to ensure underwriting guidelines and standards are met. Accurately determine the borrower's ability and willingness to repay the debt. Document the system either for approval or rejection outside of standard conforming/agency underwriting procedures. Instruct other employees on new procedures or the review of existing procedures. Review loan packages after initial processing step is complete to identify critical areas that could adversely affect the probability of loan approval. Provide the appropriate follow-up in these areas. Maintain complete awareness of quality customer service through effective communication and by presenting the Bank in a positive, professional, and courteous manner. Work Location: This position has a hybrid work model of 4 days in office and 1-day remote work.
