Salary: $23.08 - $24.73/hr

Position Summary: The Brooklyn Prevention Services Center operates Child Welfare Family Services Programs including Solution Based Casework, and MST-CAN. This site is located at 630 Flushing Ave, Suite 302 of a multi-level building, in Brooklyn. CA is looking for a Security Guard and Custodian in a combined role to join the CA Prevention team.

Essential Duties:



  • Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Secure and maintain assigned post. Controls the entrances and exits of visitors, clients and staff. Maintains the safety of lobby and reception area. Monitor surveillance cameras.
  • Maintains sign-in logs. Checks visitors in and out.
  • Observe activities, report irregularities to maintenance personnel and site Director.
  • Provide support to staff when dealing with disruptive or inappropriate behavior. Remove disruptive visitors from the building as needed or at the direction of site Director/Leadership staff on-site.
  • Responds to all emergencies; involved in crisis situations through direction of the site Director(s) or other on-site Leadership.
  • Learn and follow all existing safety protocols; ensuring the safety of staff and clients in the building.
  • Escorts staff to safety as needed. Assists with arranging car service as needed.
  • Serves on emergency response team. Responds to all safety related incidents and emergencies. Assists with fire and other emergency drills.
  • Monitor building alarms, inspect, maintain and operate emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, AED (if CPR trained).
  • Learn and know the location and operation of fire alarms, firefighting, first-aid and other safety equipment.
  • Call police, EMS, or fire department in the case of an emergency, such as injured person(s), fire or the presence of an unauthorized person(s).
  • Answer and direct incoming calls as needed.
  • Regularly reports to the assigned post on time.
  • Maintains office environment through weekly mopping, cleaning of surfaces, maintaining restroom cleanliness and supplies.
  • Daily collection and disposal of office garbage.
  • Consistently identify to AA or Site Director needed supplies for ongoing maintenance of a clean environment (toilet paper, cleaning supplies, trash bags).
  • Provide custodial support 4 hrs/week at Manhattan Family Court Children's Aid office.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 3 years of experience as a security officer in a multi-floor or building environment required.
  • Security Guard license in good standing.
  • Experience with de-escalating conflicts.
  • Basic computer skills required, particularly email and calendar.
  • Physical ability to mop, carry garbage to collection point within the building.

  • Provide all training, certifications/documents such as CPR, Active-Shooter, De-escalation and any other training certifications pertinent to the position.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Flexibility to work on Saturdays as needed.
  • Punctuality, regular attendance and a professional appearance.



Professional Development



  • Take coaching and training by participating in offered trainings, workshops, In-Service days, and/or All-Staff conferences
  • Maintain required certifications and proof of attendance in professional activities.


Health and Safety



  • Adhere to all state and city licensing requirements (Security Guard Licensing) and CPR/first aid certification.
