Position Highlights The University of Arizona is seeking a Materials Handler II. This position participates in work related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and delivering a variety of packages and supplies across campus. The main area is the BSPB dock and distribution is made across all the buildings at PBC. This position will assist with event coordination and logistics on an as needed basis.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the delivery and distribution of materials to designated campus locations to support operations of several colleges and the other two universities.
  • Transports and secures high-value or hazardous materials using specialized handling techniques to safeguard equipment and ensure weight is evenly distributed.
  • Coordinates the verification of incoming/outgoing shipments using various inventory methods to ensure accuracy.
  • Resolves shipment discrepancies by inspecting materials for damage and communicating with recipients/vendors.
  • Greets and serves all members of PBC in a friendly, courteous manner.
  • Develops plans to improve workflow and processes, implements with support of supervisor.
  • Works harmoniously with co-workers.
  • Executes specialized entry procedures for restricted facilities to ensure materials are loaded and stored in strict adherence of established decontamination and safety protocols.
  • Operates and inspects motorized material handling equipment.
  • Monitors inventory levels throughout loading dock and identifies replenishment needs; assists with ordering of supplies through established vendors and processes.
  • Performs preventative maintenance checks and safety inspections on warehouse equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Assist with special events coordination and logistics including table/chair setup/takedown and minimal custodial duties.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of campus buildings and locations.
  • Knowledge of automated or computerized system operation.
  • Knowledge of record keeping practices.
  • Knowledge of safety practices.
  • Skill in operating forklift or other materials handling equipment.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • In addition to the education and experience minimum qualifications, Apprenticeship program, technical training experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to
    the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior warehouse/loading dock experience.
  • Experience working on a college/university campus.
  • Special events experience.
