Teach both private and group swim lessons while helping create a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable aquatic environment. Serve as a lifeguard by monitoring pools and surrounding areas, responding to emergencies, and providing assistance to participants of all ages and skill levels.
Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions Monitor and maintain safety across three aquatic pools and the hot tub area. Teach engaging swim lessons that build confidence, improve technique, and support participant success. Ensure participants meet course objectives and completion requirements. Support Swim Instructors by assisting with equipment setup and addressing issues on the pool deck. Inspect aquatic equipment and notify the Aquatic Program Manager when repairs, replacements, or additional supplies are needed. Organize and maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming class environment. Properly store all swim aids, teaching equipment, and accessories at the end of each shift. Respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies while enforcing all pool safety rules and procedures. Provide outstanding customer service by creating a positive experience for members and guests. Education High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes Licenses and Credentials Certified Basic Swim Instructor - Data Conversion - Various Issuers required HeartSaver CPR AED - American Heart Association (AHA) required Lifeguarding - American Red Cross required Experience Previous Lifeguard or Swim Instructor experience 1-2 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Talking to others to convey information effectively. - Actively looking for ways to help people. - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. - Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do. - Excellent interpersonal skills required. - Ability to function autonomously while keeping team members and leaders informed. - Ability to rapidly make accurate decisions, analyze, and interpret information.
