About the Opportunity This position will serve as an associate producer and digital content producer for various PBSNC productions as assigned and in support of the Content Team known as 'Original Productions - NC Channel.' This position provides creative, technical, file management, post-production & field production support for segment content, entire programs and series. Duties include creating short-form vertical content for PBS NC's Science team and other PBS NC public and civic affairs shows. The position will research, produce, write, edit and/or deliver and assist in managing content assets and logistics for broadcast television and digital platforms.
The position is expected to contribute tangible results and embrace learning opportunities across projects created using field and studio-based production teams, facilities, and content. The position will be required to participate in studio control operations and learn skills associated with supporting PBS NC studio programming and show producers.
This position will work onsite five days per week at PBS North Carolina located in Research Triangle Park, NC. UNC System employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station. About the Team PBS North Carolina's Content division provides North Carolinians with national and local programming and services of the highest quality, using media to educate, inspire, entertain, and express a diversity of perspectives. Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills High school diploma or equivalency and four years of progressive experience in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment, of which one year is supervisory; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Required Competencies Knowledge - Technical Working knowledge of the use and operation of a complete range of video media tools, with a primary focus on editing using Adobe Creative Suite. Creativity: Ability to recognize, determine, develop and/or manage the appropriate artistic techniques and talents required to produce video assets and emerging media digital platforms.
Communication: Ability to select and effectively convey standard technical information, administrative information and artistic and aesthetic concepts verbally and in writing when working with internal staff, team members, management, clients and the public.
Planning, Organizing and Managing Work and Work Processes: Ability to work independently and/or under a producer's oversight to apply judgment in developing, organizing and executing plans for production deliveries.
Teamwork: Ability to effectively collaborate by sharing expertise, providing guidance, knowledge, and information to team members to achieve project goals. A willingness to learn and ability to show professional growth in embracing new experiences is a must.
Customer Service: Ability to take initiative and action that will ensure customer satisfaction in all phases of operation. Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills Internship experience, Competency in non-linear editing systems and basic knowledge of file management required in a Windows-based environment.
