Position Summary The Salvation Army Northern Division Jamestown Service Center is "Doing the Most Good" by providing holistic, person-centered services for individuals and families. Services include food, clothing, utility, rent, and housing assistance, spiritual support, and connections to community resources and partners. The Service Center Assistant supports the daily operations of the Jamestown Service Center by providing front-line assistance to individuals and families seeking services, performing administrative and clerical functions, coordinating volunteers, and supporting community-based programs and seasonal initiatives. Wage: $14.95 to $16.72 per hour 24 hours a week (Mon., Wed., and Fri. 8:00 am - 4:30 pm) 320 1st. Ave. N, Jamestown, ND, 58401 Essential Functions (approximate time spent)
- Front-Line Service Delivery & Participant Assistance (30%): Serve as the primary point of contact for individuals and families seeking assistance; respond to inquiries, complete intake and program applications, provide information on available services, and assist with programs such as food support and rent or utility assistance.
- Office Operations & Administrative Support (20%): Manage day-to-day Service Center operations, including phone and email communication, scheduling, recordkeeping, data entry, reporting, and maintaining organized and compliant program files.
- Volunteer Recruitment & Coordination (15%): Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers who assist with service delivery, events, and community outreach; cultivate and maintain a reliable volunteer base.
- Community Engagement & Program Coordination (10%): Assist with Service Extension programs, seasonal initiatives, and community-based services; maintain positive relationships with community partners and collaborate with local organizations to support participant needs.
- Donation, Food & Supply Distribution (10%): Coordinate the receipt, loading, unloading, transportation, and distribution of food, supplies, and donations; ensure items are handled safely and distributed appropriately.
- Facility Maintenance & Upkeep (10%): Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment through light custodial duties and basic facility upkeep appropriate to a leased office setting.
- Special Events & Seasonal Campaigns (5%): Support special events, community outreach activities, and seasonal programs, including Christmas assistance efforts and related volunteer activities.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in social services, customer service, or related field preferred.
- Must pass all applicable background checks.
- Valid driver's license required with the ability to meet The Salvation Army's MVR standards.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office, databases, email systems, and standard office equipment.

Working Conditions
- Combination of office, participant-facing, and active work environments supporting service delivery, donation distribution, and facility upkeep.
- Frequent interaction with participants, volunteers, community partners, and donors.
- Regular physical activity including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
Driving/Travel Requirements
- Local travel is required to support programs, services, and donation distribution activities.
