Job Summary

The CDL Class A Delivery Driver is responsible for safely transporting and delivering materials to customer locations while providing exceptional customer service. This role involves operating a Ford F550 with a 40-foot gooseneck trailer, hauling pipe, fittings, fire hydrants, castings, crates, and pallets. The position is primarily driving-focused, with additional warehouse support responsibilities including shipping, receiving, and material handling. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, customer-focused, technology-savvy, and capable of working independently while maintaining compliance with all DOT regulations and company policies.

Job Responsibilities



  • Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle and trailer to deliver materials to customer locations.
  • Transport pipe, fittings, fire hydrants, castings, crates, pallets, and other construction-related materials.
  • Complete deliveries according to scheduled timelines and customer requirements.
  • Validate delivery routes and directions to ensure efficient transportation.
  • Unload or assist with unloading materials at customer sites as required.
  • Secure loads properly and ensure compliance with weight and safety regulations.
  • Obtain customer signatures and maintain accurate delivery documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding delivery status and operational updates.
  • Pick up customer returns and verify returned materials against documentation.
  • Retrieve local purchase orders and secure associated packing lists.
  • Verify all materials have been delivered and properly placed at customer locations.
  • Review completed deliveries for accuracy and completeness.
  • Return all delivery documentation and records to the warehouse.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and safety requirements.
  • Fuel vehicles and report maintenance issues, accidents, violations, or defects promptly.
  • Assist with warehouse operations, including shipping UPS packages, processing LTL shipments, and putting away materials.
  • Maintain professional interactions with customers and represent the organization positively.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Support additional warehouse and operational activities as assigned.
  • Work overtime as needed to support business operations.


Job Requirements



  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Minimum of one year of Class A commercial driving experience.
  • Minimum of one year holding a CDL license.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must maintain the required state-issued non-excepted interstate self-certification designation and provide proof.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable interacting with customers during deliveries.
  • Ability to use smartphones and mobile technology for work-related tasks.
  • Comfortable operating vehicles equipped with onboard camera systems.
  • Ability to safely load, unload, and secure materials for transport.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily responsibilities effectively.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials as required.
  • Willingness to assist with warehouse operations and material handling activities.
  • Ability to work overtime when business needs require.


Education



  • High school diploma or GED preferred.


Work Experience



  • Minimum of one year of Class A commercial driving experience required.
  • Warehouse, shipping, receiving, or material handling experience preferred.
  • Experience delivering construction, industrial, or building materials preferred.
